Logan Marshall earns Bamboo Skateboards’ Tribal Chief status on Hookit!

Eleven year-old stoked to ride for the world’s leading sustainable skateboard company.

OCEANSIDE, CA—May 20, 2013: Logan Marshall, an eleven year-old skater from Red Bluff, CA, has become Bamboo Skateboards’ first level 3 ECO TRIBE Hookit rider of 2013.

Marshall, who has ridden for Bamboo Skateboards for three years, was invited to advance to level 3 Eco Chief on Hookit.com, the action sports social media site that helps emerging athletes find sponsors.  Bamboo Skateboards has 502 riders from around the world on its ECO TRIBE team, which has four levels of sponsorship.

Marshall met all of the requirements including a strong commitment to representing Bamboo Skateboards.  He also has an impressive 231,000 profile views and other sponsors such as Monster Energy drinks.  In return, Marshall will receive tons of stickers, deep discounts on Bamboo boards, be the first to get new deck graphics and t-shirts, a variety of promotional materials, and extra schwag from other partnered companies.

Marshall has been skating since he was four and says that he loves riding for Bamboo Skateboards because of their dedication to sustainable manufacturing and social responsibility.  “I have worked really hard outside of my actual skating to rep the Boo.  The Boo is what I DO and skateboarding is my passion,” stated Logan.

Bamboo Skateboards president, Geoff Koboldt, is super excited to have Marshall as the company’s first Eco Chief in 2013.  “Logan is the type of fan that any brand would be honored to be represented by.  He continuously promotes Bamboo Skateboards relentlessly, has a positive attitude and rocks the boo at a ton of northern California contests.”

Marshall plans to keep riding but keeps things in perspective.  “I hope to go pro some day but know that school is important as my backup plan,” he says.

Retro Meets Modern

Oceanside, CA – February 15, 2013: Bamboo Skateboards, world leader in eco-friendly, socially conscious skateboards is excited to release some new products in preparation for strong forecasted spring sales.

Three new short-deck graphics are being added to current lineup of 10 graphic decks: Diamond, Slash and Circle.  Visual Director Jacquelyn Purvis stated, “My intention was for these simplistic logo designs of the BS series to add a bold variety of color and style to our already existing Sutsu and Charity deck series.”

Next is the release of the Mini Retro decks, which are 6” x 22.5” and are available in neon blue and green with a classic-feel Bamboo Skateboards logo.  The completes feature 3” trucks, Abec 7 bearings, and 62mm wheels.  These smaller decks add to the mix of bamboo skateboards, which include 7.5”, 7.75”, 8”, 8.25”, 8.25” and a 10” pool deck.   The Mini Retro deck was inspired by combining the modern trend of bold and bright neon colors with the classic style of the old school boards of the 60′s and 70′s.”

The company looks forward to launching a new line of environmentally friendly t-shirts and lightweight sweatshirts featuring all new designs for the spring 2013.

Clash at Clairemont 6 – it rained, the wind was crazy but we hung in there! March 17, 2012

Saturday, March 17th, 2012

Many of you probably don’t realize all that goes into planning out an event, as you just show up and see all these tents and stages set up.  For those that actually put on the event, it is a ton of work and often you are hedging your risk that people will actually come out and participate.  As a sponsor, there is a lot of planning involved to ensure you have all the items to set up your booth, the right mix of decks and graphics to sell, ensuring your employees show up at the right times, promoting the event ahead of time, putting up banners, logistics to get everyone to the event, minimizing our pollution by carpooling, minimizing our trash, etc.  Knowing the weather had a 100% chance of rain, we were a little worried but nonetheless, we knew we had to brave it and be there to support not only the event which benefits the YMCA and GRIND FOR LIFE but for that one kid who might get educated on our bamboo decks.  In years past, it was always exciting to literally see every 1 out of 3 kids walking around with a BambooSK8 deck – many of which were purchased to get autographs from their favorite pro skaters – guys like Tony Hawk, PLG, Bucky Lasek, Andy Macdonald, Christian Hosoi, Steve Caballero and many more.  Well, this year the rain came down hard and the winds blew like crazy, but we stood strong and still persevered.  This said a lot about our company and the others who didn’t wimp out.  Honestly, there are plenty of people in the world whose conditions are far worse than a little rain and wind, so who are we to complain at all.

A highlight for us was when Tony Hawk sent someone from the YMCA over to our booth and said “Tony Hawk wants your Capped Langur deck…what does he have to do to get it?”  We were like, “Duh – just give him one.”  As a result, he autographed a deck made out to us, which was very kind of him.  Tony is a legend and has done a lot of goodwill towards building skateparks and helping kids getting healthier through the exercise of skateboarding.  It would have been nice to see him skate today, but the weather didn’t permit it.  Other legends included Duane Peters, Steve Caballero, Tony Magnusson and Christian Hosoi.

Another highlight is always seeing the future young pros – skaters like Austin Poynter and Allysha Bergado.  Both of these kids skated for me on Termite Skateboards years ago when they were very young and I’m always excited to see their growth as people and as skaters.

All in all, we had a great day – we sold some skateboards, raised some money for charity, met some new fans, educated others on bamboo, hung out with our friends, networked with other brands, had some free Bull Taco and some free Jack in the Box.  Later that night, we all partied at the Hard Rock in San Diego with everyone – PLG, Tony Hawk, Bucky Lasek, Mike Rogers, etc.

Thanks to Chris Conway, Mike Rogers, YMCA and many more.  We’ll see you next year!!!

BambooSK8 at PacSun Clash at Clairemont – March 27, 2010

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

BambooSk8 was proud to have a booth showing off our newly improved 2010 bamboo skateboard hybrids mixed with hemp, 100% bamboo longboards and a variety of new graphics for short decks from artists around the world; all with an eco cause!

The Clash at Clairemont began in 2007 as a cooperative effort between Pro Skateboarder Andy Macdonald and the YMCA and Pacsun. The first year’s event unveiled the new “Clairemonster” Vert Ramp (The 2006 X-games Vert ramp reconstructed on the grounds of the YMCA skatepark). The event, a celebration of the newly acquired ramp and park renovations was an opportunity to create a fundraiser that benefits the Mission Valley/Krause Family Bike and Skatepark and the Grind for Life Inc. Cancer charity. The event featuring over 35 of today’s best Action Sports athletes, live music and family fun was a huge success!
