DRAIN – A DOGBOWL SHORT directed by JAKE JANISSE from DRAIN – A DOGBOWL SHORT on Vimeo.
Our prayers are with the country of Japan and especially to our friends there who have been affected by the 8.8 magnitude earthquake. It might be ironic, but our 42″ double-kick longboard featured a Japanese tsunami graphic. We’d like to offer $10/complete or $5/deck to be donated to the RED CROSS to help the Japanese for those who purchase this tsunami deck. We thank you in advance for helping.
Specs: 42” x 9.25”
You can never go wrong with 2 double-kicks for that old school nostalgic feel of Dogtown days of summer. The art reflects a Japanese tsunami with the BambooSK8 boat making its way through the violent waters with birds flying through the horizon reflecting peace and tranquility; similar to the ecological stance BambooSK8 is taking currently as we change the paradigm to that of sustainable resources. Carve and charge through high-speed turns with no rubbing while enjoying that fresh breeze in your face as you bomb that hill or simply cruise the beach walk or college campus. The bamboo used in our decks come from managed bamboo forests and is of the highest quality; trust only the BambooSK8 name.

New venice beach skate park was happening on Saturday with tons of skaters and fans coming out to see a lot of the old school pros tear up the bowl. It was so crowded, which is often the case as every local kid wants to be a part of the experience and there just isn’t enough room. Reality is, this thing is 16,000 sq. foot + and it is right on the beach, which is so rad to skate and look at the ocean. I was expecting a big hoopla of tents and more pro skaters but it was really low key for the most part – taking all the “commercialism” out of it and just focusing on the skating.
Officially named the Dennis “Polar Bear” Agnew Memorial Skatepark (one of the original Dogtown skaters), the design mimics Dogtown’s world of empty swimming pools and urban landscape that gave rise in the importance of modern skateboarding as a sport and culture. A big thanks goes out to Jessie Martinez and Geri Lewis and others at the VSA who made it all happen… I know the kids will enjoy this for many years to come!

Come on down to Venice beach – ie. Dogtown and see the launch of the 17,000 sq. foot skateboard park.
