Clean Vibes Trading Post, is a 501(c)3 organization that promotes recycling at large outdoor events throughout the United States. The Clean Vibes Trading Post rewards individuals who collect recyclable materials during the events with products such as skateboards from BambooSK8.

Bonnaroo attracts a national audience of up to 80,000 attendees daily and is one of the largest music festivals in the United States. As the only North American festival to receive a high-ranking Greener Festival award for three consecutive years, Bonnaroo is also recognized as an event that is committed to promoting environmental responsibility.

This is the fourth year the Clean Vibes Trading Post will be operating at Bonnaroo and several other events across the country. The cans and bottles which individuals collect become a currency of sort, and the more recycling gathered, the more valuable items they can “purchase.”  Providing immediate rewards enables us to directly engage people in the clean up process, educate them about the importance of recycling, and ensures that we divert as much material as possible from the landfill.

Go Green Family Night at Lakeview Elementary

Wednesday, June 8th, 2011

June 7th was “Go Green Family Night” at Lakeview Elementary School in Lakeside California.  It was an educational night that guided family and students on ways to decrease their carbon footprint.  Everything from electric cars, to solar power energy, and of course bamboo skateboards.  The kids  loved the bamboo skateboards and were thrilled about  removable tattoos.  The parents on the other hand we’re excited to take home some bamboosk8 coasters.  Thanks to Kris Childs for putting on a great event.  Until next year…

GO SKATEBOARDING DAY – JUNE 21st

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

Have you ever stopped to really think about the impact of GO SKATEBOARDING DAY?  While obviously it’s to promote our sport (yes, I think its now a widely respected sport), I also think that it’s a nice reminder for us to just go have fun and be free, with no limits, no constraints, etc.

Being that we are based out of Oceanside, our gang took the liberty to spread thy message of bamboo all around Southern California.  Team 1 consisted of Nick and Jen, Team 2 was Brian, Uli, Stephen, and Heather, and Team 3 was Dana, Alex, and Jessee.  The rest of us just rolled down the local street…

Team 1 recap: The Orange County/LA Team

Jen went to Venice, completely packed, a lot of crazies, met some guys that own a clothing company that were interested in getting bamboo skate decks – we like people who want our decks!!  Nick hit three parks in Chino and Rancho Cucamonga!!

Team 2 recap: Uptown Team

They hit five different parks, making a big loop starting in Oceanside, heading south to Carlsbad and Encinitas and rounding things out in Poway.  Oceanside Bishop was packed with younger kids, they had a small event going on with Osiris and Chipotle, everyone was really friendly and the head guy even announced that “BambooSK8 is here too!”   Carlsbad was really fun, lots of kids and parents wanting information, Encinitas we stayed at the longest because of the size of the park, they were BBQing and DC was supposed to show up but never did.  We had the kids demoing boards, taking stickers and fliers as well as lots and lots of coupon codes.  We finished up in Poway, which had a lot of skaters that were much older, ranging from about 15 to 25 years old, we definitely pushed the launch party on them as well as having them demo the decks and offered them codes.  We took lots of pictures at each park of both us and the local kids with our stickers and boards.

Team 3 recap: Downtown Team

They ended up hitting four parks starting with Crownpoint park’s Sector 9 event, then Ocean Beach skate park, Washington Street skatepark, and then Embarcadero Marina Park.  Embarcadero was the most busy, the interns were swarmed with kids wanting stickers and fliers.  They video taped a lot of the events and will edit and post those soon.

Overall Go Skate Day was a total success – just having fun skating and promoting the skateboarding culture.

BambooSK8 at Nickelodean TV land awards celebrity gift event

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

BambooSK8 was proud to be a part of the 2010 Nickelodean TV land awards celebrity event this past Saturday in Hollywood/Studio City.  Photos coming soon of celebrities and their families learning about BambooSK8′s sustainable bamboo skateboards.  The highlight was most definitely when the lightbulbs went off in peoples heads recognizing exactly the infuence that we are making on a new generation of skateboarders in the paradigm shift from maple deforestation to sustainable bamboo.  A few of the celeb’s took a moment to just simply say “thank you” which was very kind.  Look for photos of the celebrities with their kids skating a bamboo skateboard.

Jay Leno loves Bamboo skateboards

Friday, August 7th, 2009

I bumped into Jay Leno last night on Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood on my way to the Viper Room.  He was shooting one of his famous “Jay walking” scenes.  I’ve been to Jay’s show about 5 times, having the hook up from one of his writers that I know as an acquaintance, and have always loved his comedy.  His non-ego, down-to-earth sense is what makes him truly in a class of his own…  I’m pretty confident his new show at 10pm will do very well.

Tony Hawk Charity event – BambooSK8 – November 9, 2008

Monday, November 10th, 2008

I attended Tony Hawk’s charity event at Billionaire Ron Burkle’s Beverly Hills estate on Sunday – for a $350 donation.  On one front, one is mingling with spoiled little rich kids (tons of them) who say to their mommies, “Oh, mom – it’s only $1000 for that autographed guitar in the auction.”  On another front, you realize that it’s these rich families who graciously donate a significant amount of money to help organizations such as this so more power to them.  Anyhow, the event was amazing and very well put together… from the valeting of cars to the food/drink, music by Social Distortion, skate jam with Tony and friends, tons of booths with free stuff, hundreds of auctioned items, etc.  Overall, it’s pretty amazing what Tony Hawk has been able to achieve in skateboarding and what his organization gives back…  It was especially nice to see people donating and bidding on the auction during these tough economical times.  Nonetheless, $75k was raised in a matter of minutes by just generous donations – one lady alone who gave $25k.  $350×800 in tickets = another $280k.  I’m not sure what the auction brought in but there was some pricey tags on items.   What’s important here is that the many kids now can have an opportunity to skate/bike with the help of the organization building skateparks.  Tony mentioned the next one was TierraSanta and even had some kids come on stage who would directly be inspired.  I did my due dilligence by promoting the bamboo skateboards and even made a few pro skaters smile when I asked them when they were going to be skating on bamboo.  They sounded excited at the opportunity – now, we just need to get some solid decks in their hands, which we are working on.  Bamboo skate decks are the future!!
