The Carlsbad City Library is planning for their teen Summer Reading Program “You are Here @ Your Library” and our children’s “One World, Many Stories”. This exciting and rewarding program, offered annually, encourages the teens of our community to retain their reading skills during the summer by reading for fun. BambooSK8 was happy to donate some skateboard decks to help their cause.
The reading program offered at all three of our Carlsbad Library locations, runs for seven weeks and is open to all young people between the ages of 3 and 18 years old. To keep their participants coming back week after week, they offer educational activities, special programs and weekly prizes. Last summer, they had more than 4,000 children and 400 teens take part in their program and expect to serve even more this year! Education is power!!
Clean Vibes Trading Post, is a 501(c)3 organization that promotes recycling at large outdoor events throughout the United States. The Clean Vibes Trading Post rewards individuals who collect recyclable materials during the events with products such as skateboards from BambooSK8.
Bonnaroo attracts a national audience of up to 80,000 attendees daily and is one of the largest music festivals in the United States. As the only North American festival to receive a high-ranking Greener Festival award for three consecutive years, Bonnaroo is also recognized as an event that is committed to promoting environmental responsibility.
This is the fourth year the Clean Vibes Trading Post will be operating at Bonnaroo and several other events across the country. The cans and bottles which individuals collect become a currency of sort, and the more recycling gathered, the more valuable items they can “purchase.” Providing immediate rewards enables us to directly engage people in the clean up process, educate them about the importance of recycling, and ensures that we divert as much material as possible from the landfill.
June 7th was “Go Green Family Night” at Lakeview Elementary School in Lakeside California. It was an educational night that guided family and students on ways to decrease their carbon footprint. Everything from electric cars, to solar power energy, and of course bamboo skateboards. The kids loved the bamboo skateboards and were thrilled about removable tattoos. The parents on the other hand we’re excited to take home some bamboosk8 coasters. Thanks to Kris Childs for putting on a great event. Until next year…
Saturday was El Camino H.S. Skate Club’s last contest of the year. It took place at YMCA Skatepark in Encinitas on a perfectly sunny day. The group was led by Isabelle Fried (Gravity Skateboard Team Rider). About a dozen or so of the clubs skaters made it out to a jam session format. Everyone was having a great time, and the energy was so positive. Taking 1st place in the contest was Club President and graduating senior, Joe. Congrats!!!
For those of you in foreign countries, we can ship outside of our current system (which uses UPS) and use USPS, to get a cheaper shipping price. We are working on getting our shopping cart to handle this request directly, but in the meantime, if you are interested in getting a deck. Send us an email on the contact form that states:
A. What you want to purchase exactly and the quantity.
B. Your shipping address (street, city, state, country, zip code)
We sincerely apologize for the production delays, but we will have more 8″ decks and other sizes in a few more weeks – likely near end of June/early July. For those that need a deck now, we suggest trying the 8.25″ decks, which seem to work great for those who try them or the 7.75″. We’ll also be introducing the new pro model JEFF WRIGHT signature deck, as well as a brand new redesigned 39″ square tail warrior bamboo longboard. We’ll also have the new 7″ termite grom deck and 10×33″ old school pool deck.

Andrew Reynolds filmed part of his Stay Gold Video here, the Termite kids skated with Shaun White a few weeks ago and so many skaters learned to skate here or practiced there. BambooSK8 did a 1 day teaching event at the school there to inspire the skate kids about the importance of education. We are sad to see that ramp go!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=939FACJV2dE
Shame on them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So many pastors feel their church is a hotel for saints and not a hospital for sinners. They have it all wrong!!!!!!!! I wish I had 10 minutes with that guy to see if he is beyond redemption or even has a soul…if he has any soul left…he may listen to an old youth pastor that is an advocate and knows the good that comes from skateboarding…ARGGGGGG! If you have his email…I would love to have it. Best of luck to Heidi and all her saints! - our friend Ron

We are very proud of our 9th class of interns, who have all done an exceptional job this semester at UASS = University of Action Sports and Sustainability. We celebrated with a wonderful dinner at Hill Street Cafe in Oceanside; thanks Louie!!
Wyatt, Geoff and intern Linsday had a great time speaking to 125+ high school students at HTHNC in San Marcos on Thursday, 17th. It’s always exciting to see kids ask intelligent questions, as many of the students did. It’s also nice to see a school put focus on sustainability, music and the arts, etc. We also hooked the schools art class up with decks to paint on for an upcoming art project. Photos to come soon! Thanks again HTHNC!

Growth, in terms of business, is necessary in order to survive. Some times, and in many markets, that growth can come at too high a cost to the environment. Geoff Koboldt of BambooSk8 is a highly conscious individual who’s actively growing business attacks these concerns. You might even call him an activist, and not just an entrepreneur. This is why we are pleased to feature him and his company in this weeks : “10 Q’s With…”; our question and answer series that’s aimed at offering insight to our readers who are interested in the ‘Adventure’ of becoming: The Boss.
We will be speaking at the local High Tech High School in San Marcos on Thursday to about 150 students. Goal will be to educate them on sustainability, economics of being green and skateboarding culture. We love to give back to the community and educating young kids holds a special place in our heart. Education is vital…
Our prayers are with the country of Japan and especially to our friends there who have been affected by the 8.8 magnitude earthquake. It might be ironic, but our 42″ double-kick longboard featured a Japanese tsunami graphic. We’d like to offer $10/complete or $5/deck to be donated to the RED CROSSto help the Japanese for those who purchase this tsunami deck. We thank you in advance for helping.
Specs: 42” x 9.25”
You can never go wrong with 2 double-kicks for that old school nostalgic feel of Dogtown days of summer. The art reflects a Japanese tsunami with the BambooSK8 boat making its way through the violent waters with birds flying through the horizon reflecting peace and tranquility; similar to the ecological stance BambooSK8 is taking currently as we change the paradigm to that of sustainable resources. Carve and charge through high-speed turns with no rubbing while enjoying that fresh breeze in your face as you bomb that hill or simply cruise the beach walk or college campus. The bamboo used in our decks come from managed bamboo forests and is of the highest quality; trust only the BambooSK8 name.
e-dubble is an independent hip-hop artist from Baltimore, Maryland that released his debut album Hip Hop is Good in December 2009. Shortly after the release he began releasing a new song each week titled Freestyle Friday sampling artists from multiple genres such as Lykke Li, Yacht, Regina Spektor, Tom Petty, The Black Keys, The Cold War Kids, Health and even Guns N Roses. Just like his album Hip Hop is Good all of the Freestyle Friday were written, recorded and produced by him with the exception of the sample(s) used in the songs. In the final Freestyle Friday “Robots Can’t Drink” he brought everything full circle by sampling his own song “Robots Pop Songs” from Hip Hop is Good.
At a time when the music industry’s future is uncertain, labels and artist are coercing one another for profits and a genre filled with narcissistic personas e-dubble is doing things differently. His drive and focus are commendable on any level but what truly sets him apart is motive which can be summed up in his most recent 25 track mixtape Written Thursday. http://www.writtenthursday.com
