Check out all the photos from the 2011 MAGIC fashion show in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay convention center. For those who aren’t familiar with MAGIC, the show brings out all the top players in the fashion industry with a whole bunch of little ones trying to make their mark. Thanks to our good friends at Ocean Current, we were able to team up and feature our shared skater Jeff Wright along with some of our bamboosk8 decks in their booth. You can find Ocean Current clothing at Macy’s and other specialty stores.

Arriving around 2pm from Burbank, I landed at the airport and headed to my hotel, which was on the other side of town towards the Wynn but way East off the strip. Feeling energized, I decided to walk the 2.8 miles to the convention center, but in reality its more like 3.1 miles by the time you go up and down walkways and bridges. It was great to see the new Vegas with the new city center and hotels while enjoying the desert breeze. I finally arrived at MAGIC around 3:30pm, feet sore and super hungry.

The show is pretty overwhelming at first because there are tons of different fashion sub-sections but I eventually found my way to SLATE which featured a skate section of brands like Tum Yeto, World Industries, Select Distribution, Skate Designs, Ambiguous, as well as a small skate area with a variety of obstacles but the most important one was the ollie bar. Practice was underway for the top contenders who had been flewn in from around the country, all with a chance of winning $10,000 first prize. It’s quite amazing to watch someone ollie even 36″ – that’s 3 feet!! But, when you see someone clear 45″ like Aldrin Garcia did – it almost defies physics!

I’ll write more later… i’m sick today.
