How do I get sponsored by BambooSK8?

You can join our Eco Tribe on Loopd.com – bamboosk8 profile.  Do not email us through this contact form for any sponsorship questions; simply create a profile on Loopd and email us through their emailing system only.

If I am a Loopd Eco Tribe sponsored skater, where do I get my coupon code and how do I use it?
You can find your coupon code in your Loopd contract – always read your contract!!  At the very end of the shopping cart purchase, it will ask you to put in your code.  Once this is done, the system will subtract out your specific codes savings (ie. $2 off for level 1 tribal scout); this applies to decks only.  If you have ordering questions, please only email through the Loopd site; do not email through the bamboosk8 site.

QUESTIONS FOR SHOPS:

If I own a shop, can I get some samples sent to me to test out the decks?

We will sell you discounted samples for $11 each for short and $15 for long, as well as you need to cover the shipping. Please email greg@bamboosk8.com

Is there a minimum purchase quantity?

  • Core shops:  Minimum is 10 decks if buying blanks.  Heat transfers or screened decks, you must purchase at least 50 decks.

What is the average lead time on decks?

  • Raw decks:  2-3 days
  • Decks with graphics (heat-transferred):  3.5 weeks initially; future orders can be done with inventory stored so you could have it within 2-3 days
  • Decks with graphics (screened):  1.5 weeks

Is there a set up charge for new graphics?

There is a $150 1-time set up charge for new graphics when using heat-transfers.  A $50 set up charge will apply if doing a screened process, which is limited to 1 color.  Both of these are direct costs to our vendor.

Can I order more heat transfers and have you hold them for future orders?

We feel it is a great idea to order at least 100 extra heat transfers so you have them for your next order, which reduces the lead time from 4 weeks down to about 1 week on your 2nd order.  You must pay for all of the heat transfers with your initial order.

How do I get graphics on my shop decks?
Send your graphic to Geoff@bamboosk8.com and let us know if the background is clear or colored  - .jpg, .ai, .pdf, psd are all acceptable so long as they are at least 300 dpi; 9x33 is a standard transfer size for heat transfers but all depends on the range of decks you are ordering.  If doing the screen process, we are limited to 1 color and the graphic must fit between the two trucks in the center of the deck.

MISC QUESTIONS:

Are the decks actually 100% bamboo?

Yes, our bamboo is straight from our managed bamboo forests and is 100% bamboo.   Don’t be fooled by others who act like they are selling bamboo when it’s only 1 or 2 veneers of it and a mixture of other poor quality woods.  Trust in the BambooSK8 logo, which will be etched into each deck in the future.  We also offer mixed maple + bamboo decks.

How come your decks aren’t 7 ply like maple?

The reality is that the thickness of our veneers requires less ply’s due to the strength of bamboo over maple.  We could shrink the veneers and make 7 ply’s but that makes no sense when we can accomplish it with 3 or 4, as well as the 7 ply would be a heavier deck due to all the glue needed.

What type of glue is used?

Our glues are water-based and exceed the requirements of the European Standard EN71, Part 3 1994 (including amendment A1:2000).  The analysis was performed by Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectrometry.

Do you recycle or reuse old decks?

Yes, we reuse decks which we either donate to local low-income charities or we recycle the bamboo down to become used in other usable bamboo projects such as furniture.

Where is your bamboo grown?

We can’t disclose the exact location as it takes a special kind of bamboo to actually work for a skateboard deck and is a part of our patent, which is in a patent-protected phase.  This is why you should always trust bambooSK8 and watch out for imposters who don’t fully use bamboo or use the wrong bamboo that isn’t cured correctly or even mature enough to be used.  It’s a special process and we’ve mastered it better than anyone out there.

What is your policy on blank decks?

We are not fans of foreign companies coming in and displacing the decks whose brands actually support skateboarding.  Ultimately the responsibility is up to the shops and they have the freedom to do what is best for their customers and their own economical situation.  Our decks are quite aesthetic with the natural bamboo showing through and therefore, we do sell our decks as blanks.

Do you manufacture longboards?

Yes, we do!  Check out our longboards page.  In order to do individual molds/shapes/concaves for those smaller brands, we would need a significant volume in order to make it happen.
