Oh Monster Mix, How We Love Thee

Over the past few months, all of the interns back here in the Cave have become quite close. One of the things we bond over is our shared addiction to Monster Mix trail mix. I know you’re thinking “Trail Mix?! What’s so tasty about that?!” Well Monster Mix, my friends, is not your average trail mix. Oh no. Monster Mix starts with some peanuts, and that’s about where it deviates from average. Next comes chocolate chips. And if that’s not enough chocolate for you, they’ve thrown in a bonus: M&Ms. Then there’s peanut butter morsels and raisins. Yummmmmy. Oh right, and crack. Janell (the only intern who doesn’t imbibe in The Mix) is convinced there’s gotta be some of that in there too. It would explain why we get all finicky and jittery when we haven’t had a handful in a while.

The obsession has begun to take over our lives. We now have a weekly funds collection so we can buy our jar for next week (collected, of course, in an old Monster Mix jar). Yea, we eat a jar a week – over two pounds of Mix. Actually, lately it’s been more like a jar and a half a week. It’s gotten really bad. The worst part is, we only have a month left together. Then what? I can’t afford to sustain my addiction on my own! I’ll go into physical and psychological withdrawals, complete with the shakes and hallucinations. What am I going to do? This is gonna be bad! Oh man, I gotta calm down. Gotta get myself another handful, stat!

Hey Guys!

So you’ve already heard about the party and all that, so let’s look ahead – we’ve been very busy here in the Intern Cave and so there’s A LOT coming up!! We’re going to have another fundraiser party later this month. The more money we can raise the better!! We are also partnering with another charity to design a limited edition deck with part of the proceeds going to the charity, so keep your eyes out for that. Finally, we are going to be at Clash at Clairemont this year, so I expect you all to stop by and say hi! It is March 27th at the Clairemont YMCA.

In the next few days I’m going to try to get a picture or two up from the fundraiser so you can live vicariously through us. haha Till then, I’m out!

Events Update

The Kiteboarding Event last Saturday was awesome! We met lots of cool people, sold a few decks, and hung on the beach all day. Unfortunately, the wind wasn’t strong enough for kiting, but there was a sweet surf contest with some really talented guys. After, a bunch of the crew headed to the Wave House down the street for the awards ceremony and after party, and to watch people test their balance and strength on the flow wave.

Next weekend on FRIDAY is our big CHARITY fundraiser party in San Clemente, come party with us!! Three bands, multiple rooms, and some cool, good looking people — gonna be a gooood time. =)

We also are going to be at the Clash at Clairemont on March 27th! Its a HUGE day of skating to benefit grindforlife.org, which helps people with cancer. Check it out!!

Kiteboarding Event this SATURDAY!

Hey Guys,

This SATURDAY 2/13, we will be at MISSION BEACH (at San Fernando St) in SAN DIEGO for the CKA Kiteboarding Competition. We’ll be playing beach games, hanging out and watching the kiters rip it ALL DAY. We also have some codes for discounted boards! Woo! See ya there!!!

BambooSK8 Fundraiser Bash!!

Hey guys! We’re trying to team up with local schools to create an afterschool program, but we need money in order to get the ball rolling. So since we’re such a fun group of people, we’ve decided to throw a party – check us out: February 26th at OC Tavern in San Clemente, 21 and over only (it is a bar, after all). Doors open at 8:30, first band starts at 9. We got a great line-up together for everyone to enjoy – Frame of Mind, Off White, and Soul Rebel Alliance, check em out on their myspace pages. There will be a $10 cover at the door, but if you go to bamboosk8fundraising.myevent.com, you can get tickets for $8 before Thursday, February 25th.

Hey Guys, Bri here with an event update: We will be at the CKA Kiteboarding Competition in San Diego on Feb 13th, from 9am – 6pm. Its on Mission Beach at San Fernando St. We’ll have a tent set up with some games and goodies, more on that to come. And So It Begins…

Hey all! Here I am, first day at BambooSk8. And I’m with Aaron, its freeeeezing in here! They should warn us to bring our parkas and mittens! Anyways, I’m psyched to be here and can’t wait to start in on the real work. I’m interested to see what the next few months will bring!
