New Contest
Wednesday, January 20th, 2010Loopd Age
Thursday, January 14th, 2010I want to talk about Loopd. We spend a lot of time on loopd and it is a great concept. A social network site that is just for action sport athletes. A great way for skaters to meet skaters. Not only that but the people on it get inside hook ups and companies get to make more sales and get to know their fans better. Amazing! With that said I always thought Loopd.com would be full of kids. I was wrong there are plenty of older athletes on the website. I just want to say, “Right on!” Being an older skater I am glad to see all the older guys holding it down. I also want to encourage all of the grommets to keep skating as long as they can so they too can represent for us older skaters in due time.
Skateparks
Monday, November 30th, 2009I went back home for good old turkey day and of course I had to go skate all the local spots. I went to Hawthorne skatepark, Daweong Song’s home park. It was closed because of some graffitti. I have skated that park forever and the people ruining it are the same people skating it. All I want to know is why do you have to ruin your local spot. If you are skating it every day wouldn’t you want the skatepark to be in the best condition. Here are some basic rules to follow no matter what skatepark you are at:
1. Show respect to everyone because you never really know who they are
2. If you spill your drink in the park take off your shirt and clean it up or else someone will slip and break their arm
3. If you are going to someone elses park bring a gift. If you are of age, beer, if you aren’t then water or energy drinks
4. Don’t drop in on any one EVER
5. If someone does something sick hoot and holler. Trust me they’ll do it for you in return and it will push your skating that much further.
6. Most importantly respect the park. Skaters barley have anywhere to skate anymore so why trash the one spot we are allowed to skate
New Decks
Monday, October 5th, 2009We are getting new decks in a couple of weeks. They are the hybrids. 70% bamboo. We are also getting new longoards by the end of Novmber. I love coming to work and being surrounded by skateboards. Breathe easy, sk8 bamboo.
Another Monay
Monday, September 21st, 2009Monday always seems to be a good day for healing. I skated all day on saturday on my new bamboo deck. After I skated I went to see Guttermouth. It was so much fun. I’m so sore today though. I don’t even want to move. A good sign from another great weekend.
One crazy weekend
Tuesday, September 15th, 2009My weekend started with ASR. It was my first time there and I was stoked. It was the most I have ever felt that I was actually part of the action sports industry, and man did it feel at home. I was runnig arond like a chicken with my head cut off checking out all the cool booths that were around. There ws so uch to see I was never in one place too long, and oh man the mini ramp they had, SICK! Volcom built it, there were like three diffrent sections on it, all a diffrent size with volcom stones connecting them.
I was tagged from head to toe in the Bamboo Sk8 logo. I was talking up bamboo with everyone I met. I eventually made it around to brands. I gave them my pitch, we talked for a bit. No matter what they said I stayed around and picked their brain as much as I could, to get insider information on the industry. The former owner of Vision (the second oldest skateboard company) gave me a full on lecture of the industry and answered all of the questions I had.
We ended up selling plenty of decks, both long and short. It was definitley worth our time there.
On Sunday I attended the paddle for clean water in Ocean Beach, put on by the Surfrider Foundation. The surf was lke 8 foot so the paddle got cancelled (I’m not going to lie, I was hoping it would so I didn’t feel guilty about surfing instead of doing the paddle). Sarting at 11 a there was a free concert with Iration headlining, and tribal Seeds playing too. Also Stone was there giving out free beer (hell yeah!) That whole event got attacked with Bamboo Sk8 stickers. Everyone there got a sticker, and if they didn’t they heard about bamboo, that’s or sure.
Breathe easy, Skate Bamboo
THE ZINE IS DONE
Friday, September 4th, 2009Afeter redoing the zine multiple times, it is finally done. Everyone who sent in an ad to our contest on loopd can see their ad placed on the back page of the zine. That is right all 74 Bamboo Sk8 ads are on the back of the zine. Make sure you check it out if you participated in the contest.
On a side note. This week officially makes it the half way mark of my internship. For those people looking for an internship I highly recommend this program. I have lerned a lot and enjoyed every minute of my time here at Bamboo Sk8.
Contest in the Works
Friday, August 28th, 2009grand prizeTime to get stoked. I am proud to announce a new contest in the works here at Bamboo Sk8. The contest involves shooting an Eco/Skate video. The video is a chance for contestants to get creative. I have been working closley with Ron (head of public relations), and we so far have finished an outline for a “pilot” run. The pilot run will include all the basic ideas of the contest for four teams of participants to compete against eachother. We will pick the best video for a grand prize (later to be announced, but trust us it will be worth competing for). If the pilot contest runs with out any major problems we will unleash the contest to the masses. We see this contest eventually going national, maybe even international. We also have diffrent variations of the contest, one will revolutionalize the skate market. We are changing the world one step at a time. There is no stopping us and eventually you will have no choice but to join us. Why not join us now. Go ahead, help us save the world. I dare you.
Zine!!!!!!
Friday, August 7th, 2009The Zine is almost done. You will get one with each purchase from the website. Included on the back page is all of the ads that were submited from the ad contest we held on loopd. Make sure to check it out.
New Zine Coming Soon
Friday, July 31st, 2009All of the Interns and I are working on a new zine. We plan to have an e-zine along with one every time you order a deck. Make sure you check them out. Who knows some of your work might be in it somewhere.
Philip’s First Blog
Friday, June 26th, 2009Bamboo Sk8 is a revolutionary company. It is dedicated to putting out the best product on the market, while saving the world one tree at a time. I am proud to call myself a Bamboo Sk8 Intern and I look forward to doing my part to develop, market, advertise, and sale skateboards made out of bamboo. I see this company as ground breaking, soon influencing other companies to get creative and eco-aware of their product. I look forward to working with everyone at the company and learning as much as I can from them. Every day I will come in with an open mind and suck up as much knowledge as I can that will better my performance ultimately leading to the betterment of the company. Stay tuned good and extraordinary things are bound to happen, soon.
