$24 Bamboo Decks….what?

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

The new 100% decks arrived last week and they look great.  We reduced the price on the new decks to make them affordable for everyone this holiday season.  When is the last time you bought a new deck for twenty-four bucks.  And the best part is, all you Loop’d kids can get even more of a discount off of that.  What more can you ask for? Get them while supplies last because they are going quickly.

On a side note, next week is our final week as interns at BambooSK8.  I am so thankful for having this opportunity at BambooSK8 and I can’t say enough goods things about the company.  BambooSK8 is truly the future of skateboarding and everyone in the industry is starting to realize the benefits of skating bamboo.  All of us interns who stuck it out and completed the internship have really learned a lot and good things are in our future.

Til next time.  KIR.

Busy..Busy

Friday, November 20th, 2009

As we enter the final month of the internship it is hard to believe how much I have accomplished.  All the projects that I have been working on are in full swing and good things are happening at BambooSK8.  The internship program is very labor intensive and a true test of skill and determination.  This is my third internship and by far the toughest. Our intern class has really been pushing our products and the sales are increasing as a result.

BambooSK8 was fortunate enough to have a month of free advertising on Rerip.com and I was given the opportunity to create an ad for the website. Check it out if you haven’t already.  The BambooSK8 website has been going through some changes as well and it is really coming together.

All of us interns have come a long way and dedicate a lot of time promoting a quality, sustainable product, that is truly the future of skateboarding.

Kick Gas Festival

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

The Kick Gas Festival, which took place a couple of weeks ago, is the West Coast’s largest eco-party which included a ton of music artists and D.J.’s from all over.  Music artist’s like Matisyahu came together to promote a cleaner lifestyle.  It is a great place to check out the latest forms of alternative transportation.

We set up a booth alongside Ocean Beach Surf and Skate which featured a skate demo. Below are some pictures I took at the event.

Next year this event will be even bigger and better so be sure not to miss it next time around.

A trip to the Mammoth skatepark

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

I recently was in Mammoth and had a chance to stop by the Volcom Brothers Skatepark on my way out of town.  It was six o’ clock in the morning and about 36 degrees outside so it wasn’t exactly ideal skating conditions. Just rolling into the main part of the park towards the capsule is enough to get your heart thumping and your eyes watering.  It’s better than any cup of coffee I have ever had.

This park is a reflection of the big things that are possible when the skateboard and snowboard communities come together.

What’s happening

Thursday, October 8th, 2009

Just wanted to keep everyone up to speed. This first month as an intern for Bamboosk8 has been a great experience and things are moving quickly. I have been working on various projects to get Bamboosk8 where it needs to be. Balancing various projects at the same time has been challenge and a learning experience.

I have been working on creating partnerships with other eco-friendly companies for future events and promotions.  I can’t really talk about the details but keep your eyes and ears open. The word of bamboo skateboards is spreading in a rapid way thanks to our interns.  Everyone is starting to realize the benefits of bamboo skateboards as opposed to maple.  One day when bamboo replaces maple we will all be able to breathe a little easier.

The last couple days we received a new shipment of our hybrid bamboo decks and wow do they look amazing. After years of testing and feedback, these are truly a reflection of perfection. These decks are flying like hotcakes so any of you shop owners out there or loop’d kids better get on it if you want to skate some fresh bamboo. Those of you who have already ordered your decks please feel free to send us some feedback.   It has been a great experience so far and I look forward to bigger and better things in the future.

Til next time.

Hello again…..

Saturday, September 26th, 2009

Just wanted to keep everyone up to date with what has been going on here at BambooSK8.  During the second week of the internship all the interns attended ASR which was a great experience for all.  You can read all about it in my last post. It was something I will never forget and I hope to attend it again in the future as my career in the action sports industry continues to grow.

One of the main objectives of this internship is to spread the word of BambooSK8 and create awarness for future generations to come.  I can’t say enough good things about this company and the internship program.  Bamboo skateboards are the wave of the future and have proven to be superior to its counterpart maple.  Tested and proven in the Sole Tech labs to have more POP than maple!!!  What more do you want in a skateboard than a durable product thats got POP?

We want to thank all you kids out there on loop’d network that are buying our decks and supporting us.  Keep on sending us those photos for the weekly photo contest and keep on rippin’.  Whether your buying our decks directly from us or in your local skate shop, you are starting to see the light and supporting a good cause.  One day when all those maple trees are gone what will you turn to?

This is a great company and a wonderful opportunity that I am proud to be a part of.  Until next time….

The ASR Experience

Friday, September 18th, 2009

The ASR experience was something I will never forget.  I have been to the show before but this was the first show where I felt like I actually belonged and served a purpose. Other times I had been there under some other alias, or at the job fair, but it was never this productive.  The first day was spent spreading the word of Bamboo as an alternative and superior product to maple.  Kids and other buyers that stopped by the booth were well aware of who we were and seemed very interested in our skate decks.  I spent a lot of time networking and talking to kids about our products.  It was really special to see that kids were well aware of our products and why purchasing our decks, as compared to maple, directly effected the environment.  To hear a kid tell me “bamboo grows three feet a day and has more pop than maple”, that was something else.  Its just a great feeling to know that part of our younger generation is aware of sustainability and its importance for generations to come.  By the end of the first day our company was lucky enough to land a spot on Fox News San Diego and I went home and watched it that night on the 10 o’ clock news.  It was a great story about how companies in the Action Sports Industry are going green and using environmentally-friendly products.  It set the stage for the days to come and created a buzz about BambooSK8 around ASR.  BambooSK8 is one of those companies at the forefront and I am proud to be a part of that.

There was plenty of entertainment and eye-candy throughout the weekend.  One of the highlights of the event was probably the Volcom skate ramp.  It was fun watching groms destroy it and old school skaters trying to hang.  One kid that definitely stuck out was Little Louie Lopez.  Its hard to keep up with the skate scene these days with all these young guns coming up.  The trick that stuck in my mind was a gap to frontside krooks down and across a good portion of the ramp.  Freakin’ Groms!  One other highlight was the first ever Office Boyz skate contest.  Its a contest put on by Malakye that involves desk jockey’s and employees from around the Actions Sports Industry.  You would be surprised at the level of skating by the people who sit behind a computer all day and  work in this industry.  Do they really work all day? I think they are taking way too many skate breaks.

Overall ASR was a great experience and our team of interns did a great job.  People were even asking for our decks when we were loading up the truck in the parking lot.  I would say it was a success for BambooSK8. Way to go team!

Peace out.

Along came a Peach……..er

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

My name is Nathan Peacher. I bring to the table a B.S. in Advertising from Northern Arizona University with a Graphic Design and Web Development background. I am currently pursuing a web publishing certificate from UCSD.  One day I hope to be part of a creative team for the action sports industry.  Growing up in Laguna Niguel and Orange County, the mecca for the industry, I am a life-long consumer of all the big name brands.  I was fortunate enough to grow up in an area where I was always at the beach, skateboarding, or snowboarding.  I love all outdoor activities and have lots of hobbies including photography and painting.  I pursued my passion for snowboarding by living and working in Lake Tahoe for six years. I have maintained a consistent amount of freelance work and recently moved back to Southern California to pursue a career in Web Development.  I am very excited to work with a company like BambooSK8 who is revolutionizing the sport of skateboarding. My life long passion for board sports will prove to be invaluable during my internship with BambooSK8. It is a great opportunity to work with a company that is involved in changing the world for future generations to come.

More to come……
