Vuvuzela

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

It is now week 8 and the BambooSk8 internship class 7 is already half way done!!  It’s been a ton of fun, but it could be more fun if we all had BambooSk8 vuvuzela’s!!  Even though USA lost, so sad, we can still put the vuvuela’s to good use…here are some ways to use them:

1. cheer on your friends at the skate park

2. cheer for Edward of Jacob while watching the new Twilight movie!!

…that’s all I could think of.  Don’t forget to check us out on facebook!!  Later Playas!!

Half Way….

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

So, us interns are basically half way done with our internship!  SO Crazy!  But, we are still working hard, learning a lot and having a good time. Just like these guys…

For example, today I learned that ninjas are invisible and can beat any competitor…both fictional and for reals.  That knowledge was handed to me from Uli, thanks man. I also learned that the band Scooter is the best band ever!  Here is their lead singer…

H.P. Baxxter, best singer ever!

We are currently working on getting some videos out there.  Next week we will also start our version of “Real World” here in the intern cave, so hopefully that goes well!

Check out the Facebook fan page and invite your friends!

I’m out!

Oh Boy. WEEK 8

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

Well week seven came and went, off to week eight.  It’s been super busy for me here but in a completely good way. I attended and represented at the Ocean Beach Street Fair over the weekend.  We had two of our sponsored riders show up and throw it down at the demo put on by the Ocean Beach Surf and skate shop. Danny medaled third while Lorenz threw some sick front side flips over this rail box thing.  I was busy taking pictures, slanging decks, and walking around meeting people and promoting the octobomb launch party. (Which is going to be so rad!) I also watched a little soccer, which as we all know, ended in heartbreak. But it was intense down there and I don’t think soccer’s ever been this big in the states.

We have been intensely working on this launch party, contacting companies and getting sponsors on board that want to come and be part of our night. Also, we are having live entertainment, food, raffles, and prizes, which are only going to add the awesomeness of the evening. I’m really enjoying this aspect of the internship experience and I’m thinking this is something that I am good at and want to continue. I like being out at events and telling everyone about our company. I can sell, and market, meet people, and establish relationships. I’m hoping that these qualities will provide a substantial return to the company. Planning these events can be stressful at times, but I like the pressure, and its fun. I can’t wait to see how the party actually turns out and the return all of our hard work produces. Anyway, that’s all I have for now. This week is going to be another crazy one. There are a lot of things to do and secure up in terms of the launch party and other events we have coming up. I’m dialed in though and up for the challenge. Until the next time. Lorber-Out

HookIt Level 2 Potential?

Monday, June 28th, 2010

So today in the cave, Jessee, Jen and I decided that we wanted to prove that we can be as good as hookit level 2 kids. One young gentleman submitted a picture of himself “jumping/dropping” with his board from a ledge but his back foot is still clearly planted on the ground. We figured “hey we can do that!” so we did. and took pictures. Needless to say this lovely Monday in the cave was full of laughs and us girls posing on the ramp, attempting to not actually drop in and potentially die. Come see how good we look!

Stay Classy San Diego!

The dungeon is a little crowded today with interns and subsequently has been flooded with pizza and beer.  Tempers have been flared and feelings have been hurt.  Sometimes things just have to get down and dirty I suppose.  Uli has enlightened us with his infinite wisdom and AC/DC  has let us know who has the best and biggest balls.

Safe to say….there is no such thing as a boring day here at Bamboo Sk8.

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

Anyway, hope you saw us and got your stickers, promotion coupon and the most important your flyer for Octobomb party. 22nd of July, PB Surfshop hope to see you there!

Friday, June 18th, 2010

With the sun steppin out and the golden tans shining its evident that summer is here as well as a whole load of events of summer fun. Excited for the BBQ that’s goin on this weekend, the guys built an awesome quarter pipe it definitely forecasts for some awesome times with our team riders. All the work that everyone has been putting in for the launch party of the Octobomb shows very promising, and you should all come out, support and see what BambooSk8 has brought to the table.  Monday, Go Skate Day!  We will be representing and hitting up spots all over So. Cal, look for us and say whats up. Each week here goes by faster than the last, but learning something new happens everyday, and the craziness gets crazier and that’s what keeps it interesting and fun filled with new ideas. Stay tanned.

Too Legit to Quit.

Friday, June 18th, 2010

Mr. Lorber being his rad self.

Dan is definitely too legit to quit.

It has been a rad few weeks here at BambooSk8. Lots of things going on to keep all of us crazy busy. Our Octobomb release party has an official date: July 22nd at the Pacific Beach Surf Shop. Come one, come all! We are going to have bands, a DJ, grub from Bull Taco, and giveaways. I know we are a ways out, but mark down the date in you calender because it is going to be LEGIT! This weekend we are getting together with our team riders for a little grub/skate session. I’ve got my camera charged and ready to gather evidence of the radness of our new digs (i.e. the sweet ramp). Exciting times.

Keep shredding that Bamboo and always remember to be TOO LEGIT TO QUIT!

Home Sweet Home

Friday, June 18th, 2010

Finally back in beautiful San Diego, and I’m here for good. Today is only my second time doing work in the office but the atmosphere is great. Everyone is so friendly. Spent my first day attempting to skateboard (fail) and helping everyone else with their projects. Worked on a big art project with Dana, girls and power tool (woo) and sent it off to a museum. Been spending all of time today organizing our canvassing plans for GO SKATE DAY (which is this monday so look for us at your local skateparks…we’ll be EVERYWHERE) So thats pretty much it for me, getting into the swing of things here in the office, in our little cave, dealing with moving all of my stuff back home and figuring out what to do with myself now that I don’t have class everyday. So far, freedom is sweet.

Working Hard

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

Hey guys and gals,

We have been doing work here in the intern cave and the warehouse the last couple of weeks.  Just today we finished our own personal quarter pipe.  Nick was a champ and did most of the work.  We still had some stuff to do and it only took like 20 hours, 3 broken drill bits, 2 broken screwdrivers, and Alex and I staying till 9 last night to get it done.  But it is done and it skates well!  So, our warehouse skatepark is getting better every day!  Check out the facebook pictures to see how it turned out.

We have some cool crap going on the next couple of weeks.  Go skateboarding Day is on monday, and the launch of the Octobomb party is gonna be sick!  Gotta get back to work.

Peace,

Brian

Im a GIANT

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

hey hey hey, I cannot believe that it’s already been 6 weeks of my awesome internship here with BambooSk8.   So far it’s been a wild ride, meeting cool people, working on cool projects, and building cool things.  Well we’ve really only built one cool thing, but it’s super cool.  This week Brian, Alex, and I have successfully completed building a quarter pipe.  Nick brought it in to the shop and had most of it done but it was up to us to put the finishing touches on the ramp.  It ended up being a lot more work than we expected as it took Brian Alex and Andrew til 9pm yesterday to finish it, those guys are legit.  But it is amazing and ready for our team riders to shred on Saturday.  Don’t forget about Go Skateboarding Day on Monday and Father’s Day on Sunday.  We are also in the process of creating BambooSk8′s very first team riders video.  Lots of cool things in the future.  Stay tuned for everything cool we’re about to do.  Pieces!

Hey guys, hope that you are still following our news..
So, quick review of my first 2 weeks down here, longboarding, surfing and yes, working for this laid back company. We are almost ready to spread the Bamboo word to Europe, I m sure European skaters will appreciate bamboo boards as much as you guys do. And if you can convince them about Bamboo’s decks quality please do so!
Talk to you soon about the Bamboo coming impact

message from melissa and more

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

Good morning everybody,

it’s around 9:30 in the morning, I am looking forward to a great day with my Mastershoplist and I am tired. So far the news. I have to admitt that I had an awesome time so far in Oceanside. We finaly found an apartment more or less dircetly on the OS beach and today is moving day, which indicates more or less indirectly that I have to leave Mark’s chouch; unfortunately, I guess it’s the most comfortable couch on the whole wide world.

I’m realy looking forward for the next time, we have so many different project which are all really cool and I can’t wait for saturday when our selfmade obstacles, among others a quater pipe( yyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssssssssssssssss, a quater pipe!!!!!!!!) are ready, thanks to mostly Brian and Steve; We’ll have awesome sk8 breaks.

By the way, you should try to see Whit playing his guitar, he can even make Bob Dylan songs bearable for my ears, but he will get famous anyway because he now is the big buddy of O’Mally Jones( yeeeessssssssssssss, O’Mally Jones!!!!!)

Anyway, a few days ago I got a text ( or, better said a few) from Melissa, which made me a bit confused, she wrote:

Why is it so easy to reject a good person? (Yet we stay with someone who takes us thru hell?) Why is it so easy… For us to leave home? ( But so hard for us to come up out of our hole?) Why do we sleep in school? ( but stay awake through a 3 hour movie?) Why is it so hard… to talk about God?( But to talk about premarital sex?) Why are we so bored when we look at a Christian book?( But find it easy to read Zane?) Why …is it so easy to ignore a Godly forward? ( Yet we forward  the demeaning ones?) Why are Churches getting smaller? (But bars and clubs are expanding?) Why… Is it so easy to worship a celebrity? (But very difficult to worship God?) think about it, are you going to forward this? Or are you going to ignore it… cause you think you will get laughed at or not cool? The Lord said: If you deny Me in … in front of your friends, I will deny you in front of my Father

Well, Melissa, true words! I have to admit these are all good questions, but I honestly have better things to do than minding about such things, like fishing, playing bocha with the French or counting every single bamboo spear in Andrew”s warehouse. Anyway, sorry that I didn’t respond, Melissa, but who the hell are you again?

So, I wish you all a great day, I will now check out how far the quater is constructed yet

see you soon

Uli

Bippity Boppity Bloggin

We are now in week 6 here at bamboosk8, everything is amazing.  I just finished a few new additions to the warehouse.  A 4 foot quarter pipe and a sweet fun box for all of us to play on.  Pictures and crash reports will be posted soon.  We have a lot going on this week.  We are planning the Launch Party for the new Octabomb which is going to be awesome.  Look for updates on that any day and make sure that you are all there.  We are also having a team BBQ and photo shoot this weekend.  I am looking forward to hanging out with everyone for the day and skating the new ramps.  I am excited to see what we come up with around here, everyday we seem to come up with new ideas.  Also be sure to check out our display at the California African American Museum in the Green Section.  Dana and a few of us worked really hard on the display and it looks sick.  Go check it out if you are ever up in LA.

So Its Six

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

Well week five came and went. Now it’s six. Good times here at Bamboosk8. The other interns are great, as well as everybody working here in the layer. Reflecting back, it’s amazing how much I’ve learned, and how much I’m continuing to absorb. I’m in change of managing the twitter account and have so far obtained approximately 200 followers. We are currently trying to link all of our social media outlets to directly increase sales on our website. It’s really fun, and has taught me just how much of an influence social media has on today’s businesses.  Right now the interns and I are planning the launch party of our new deck coming out July 21. This is really cool but there is a lot that goes into it. We are presently contacting sponsors, bands, and various charitable organizations to be present at our shin dig.  I think (at least I hope) that it will be a big success! If we all put in the effort, there’s no reason why it shouldn’t be. Nick has built us a rad quarter pipe and fun box that I’m staring at right now as I type. The coping isn’t on it yet but I can’t wait to take a break and skate this beast.  So I guess that’s it for now. See you in week eight!

HEY HEY HEY!!!

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

Hey all, im back!!! So i was doing some research and I am super excited to get the party started and show the industry who we are. The internship is still going great, learning and experiencing everyday. Everyday there is something new to conquer but I keep my head up no matter how hard the task may be and keep movin forward and takin full advantage of what I am learning. Im still havin fun though!!! I recently attended the Dragon Skate race where I got to do the design on the flyers we had past out, with the help of Dana of course!! That event was amazing, it turned out great and people really dug our style and concept. DRAGON SKATE RACE= SUPER FUN.

Week 4 Madness

Saturday, June 5th, 2010

Oh me oh my, how time flies! I am in Week 4 of my days in the cave and it just keeps getting better and better. I mean, how can you beat a job that allows you to take skate breaks and play on the plethora of boards we are surrounded by?! Seriously though, in reference to the awesomeness, a couple days ago I watched some of our fellow interns turn an empty semi into a skate feature and they were crushing it! Pics will be coming soon, don’t you worry!!  We got some pretty sweet new T’s recently that everyone has been modeling around the office. I think I have seen a couple peeps who have been wearing them daily, making me question if the washing machine has been utilized. Stinky boys! Well, hope everyone had a fantasmic Memorial Day and I hope to see you shredding that Bamboo!

Yahtzee

Friday, June 4th, 2010

…You never know what the dice of life will roll your way….In week 4 at BambooSk8 and everything has been unbelievably awesome.  Yes there have been many moments and feelings of how do I approach this? or Where do I start?  But the key is diving right in. Things are really starting to move, learning from mistakes and from accomplishments keeps me on my toes. I have come to amaze myself in all that I am taking on. With the greatest mentors lighting our path we are sure to show more results, spreading the news that BambooSk8 is standing firm and making its presence known.

Hey there from the old world

Friday, June 4th, 2010

So I’ve been recently imported from Munich, Germany to get to know how life is under the sun.  I’m now in my third day of the Bamboo internship. So far it has been a really cool time. While working up all the stuff I missed throughout the first weeks and coming up with new ideas steadily, they a spreading like bamboo plants ;) .We somehow managed to test our products in frequent skating sessions in our top- secret Bamboo- Lab aka storage hall. The more I skate them the more I like this kind of decks. We do our best to get you all in favor of this amazing pop’in, super light boards and put an extra portion of fun and love in all of our decks, just for you. I’m pretty sure the next weeks will be a lot of work, but fun as well and I really can’t wait to get things packed on. Anyway, I’m looking forward for the first surfing session today, finally. I wish you all a great weekend, see you next week

Cheers

Hola Hola everyone

Friday, June 4th, 2010

Rounding out the first month of interning here at BambooSk8. I’m loving it. I’m just counting down the days until I graduate from UCSB and can move to San Diego. Then I’ll be finally working in the office. :)  Being stuck up here I don’t think I’m getting the full experience. I’m just so excited to meet everyone face to face, be able to log in office activity hours, go to events…everything. Starting to come up with new ideas to promote our boards. We’ve talked about creating video updates and even possibly a “RealWorld Bamboo.” Lots of fun ideas flowing in and out. I’m visiting San Diego next week (since I finish my very last final..ever, on tuesday) so I’m going to be in the office on Wednesday. Hopefully get a good start on developing all of these ideas with everyone else.  I’m stoked to be in there with the other interns. Then I do have to go back to Santa Barbara to attend graduation, but then I’m done!

Let the countdown to the big San Diego move begin.
