testing 123…

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

So I just went up to LA where I have access to a state of the art printer called the brother gt541. This thing is pretty amazing but it does have some flaws such as the fact that it doesn’t have white ink…however the new model does have white ink and that will make if much more versatile. Anyhow I was able to do a couple of test prints and make samples of a bamboo tshirt and bamboo bandana. the material is great, it’s 70% bamboo and 30% organic cotton, I think the organic cotton really adds a dynamic to the fabric that brings out the true quality of the bamboo. The prints turned out well…however I think I could improve on the drying process a bit; it was a bit harsh on the bamboo fabric. Still the ink dye looks good and there is potential on this road…hope to get some pics up however I think they won’t do the product justice; you really have to feel the fabric it’s awesome! hope fully we can get some out in the market soon.

Peace.

$24 Bamboo Decks….what?

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

The new 100% decks arrived last week and they look great.  We reduced the price on the new decks to make them affordable for everyone this holiday season.  When is the last time you bought a new deck for twenty-four bucks.  And the best part is, all you Loop’d kids can get even more of a discount off of that.  What more can you ask for? Get them while supplies last because they are going quickly.

On a side note, next week is our final week as interns at BambooSK8.  I am so thankful for having this opportunity at BambooSK8 and I can’t say enough goods things about the company.  BambooSK8 is truly the future of skateboarding and everyone in the industry is starting to realize the benefits of skating bamboo.  All of us interns who stuck it out and completed the internship have really learned a lot and good things are in our future.

Til next time.  KIR.

print endeavors

This week has been great. We did some remodeling around the warehouse…actually it was more like thoughtless moving of objects to create more space in this ever cramming warehouse. We gained a substantial amount of space to fill. Stayed up all night putting together designs for my own personal tshirt brand, as well as recreating existing designs for projects associated with bamboo. They look good so far, hopefully this success translates over to the garments. still have some last minute prep to do and another couple of designs.

Longboard sales are going well they are flyin’ off the shelves! They look really good to I think people will be stoked on them.

Hopefully all goes well in LA on Monday…fingers crossed.

I can’t believe it’s almost over!!!!!

Hello everyone!!!! So we are almost coming to a close here at BambooSk8.  It has been a great run here for me and I feel that I have learned a lot in my time that  have been an intern here at BambooSk8.  I have been fortunate enough to have meet and worked with some amazing people. There is a possibility of us doing a local skate park tour. If this happens we would like to visit a few local skate parks and promote the name of BambooSk8. It would be nice to have local kids, at local parks working with a local skateboard company. This is just an idea and everything is not final yet, but let us know your thoughts and ideas about this. Also, don’t forget about our video and photo contests of the week. Get skating and show us your moves!!!

recently we were presented with a business scenario of a mock skate company. After an hour of playing out all the information given in all possible combinations it was clear; things were not looking good for them. We calculated that even after taking all measures to cut cost there was still a loss of 5,000 per month. This was shocking for us. The only remedy for this loss is to increase speed and quantity of sales.

Back to the drawing board.

ASEC Greenroom at PB Surf Shop

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009
On the 21st of November Greg, Mark, and I (Andrew) went down to PB Surf Shop to support ASEC and their new greenroom. They had an entire wall dedicated to eco-friendly products and materials.  Also to help kick it off were live artists and live music including the growlers.  Afterwards we gathered a few more people and visited Greg at his night job.  Good times.
