Yes, there is a $150 set up charge for new graphics. This is a 1 time charge.
There is a $150 set up charge for new graphics when using heat-transfers. This is a 1 time charge per graphic. A $50 set up charge will apply if doing a screened process, which is limited to 1 color. Both of these are direct costs to our vendor.
We feel it is a great idea to order at least 100 extra heat transfers so you have them for your next order, which reduces the lead time from 4 weeks down to about 1 week on your 2nd order. You must pay for all of the heat transfers with your initial order.
Send your graphic to Geoff@bamboosk8.com and let us know if the background is clear or colored - .jpg, .ai, .pdf, psd are all acceptable so long as they are at least 300 dpi; 9x33 is a standard transfer size for heat transfers but all depends on the range of decks you are ordering. If doing the screen process, we are limited to 1 color and the graphic must fit between the two trucks in the center of the deck.
Yes, our bamboo is straight from our managed bamboo forests and is 100% bamboo. Don’t be fooled by others who act like they are selling bamboo when it’s only 1 or 2 veneers of it and a mixture of other poor quality woods. Trust in the BambooSK8 logo, which is etched into each deck.
Our glues are water-based and exceed the requirements of the European Standard EN71, Part 3 1994 (including amendment A1:2000). The analysis was performed by Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectrometry.
Yes, we reuse decks which we either donate to local low-income charities or we recycle the bamboo down to become used in other usable bamboo projects such as furniture.
We can’t disclose the exact location as it takes a special kind of bamboo to actually work for a skateboard deck and is a part of our patent, which is in a patent-protected phase. This is why you should always trust bambooSK8 and watch out for imposters who don’t fully use bamboo or use the wrong bamboo that isn’t cured correctly or even mature enough to be used. It’s a special process and we’ve mastered it better than anyone out there.
We are not fans of foreign companies coming in and displacing the decks whose brands actually support skateboarding. Ultimately the responsibility is up to the shops and they have the freedom to do what is best for their customers and their own economical situation. Our decks are quite aesthetic with the natural bamboo showing through and therefore, we do sell our decks as blanks.
We are in the process of developing longboards for sale in spring 2009. In order to do individual molds/shapes/concaves for those smaller brands, we would need a significant volume in order to make it happen.
